Thomas R. Cullison, RADM MC USN (Retired)

Shifting Climates: Population Concentration and Environmental Impacts to Health and Health Systems
Dr. Cullison joined the Uniformed Services University of the Health Sciences in March 2013 as senior advisor to the Center for Disaster and Humanitarian Assistance Medicine. He also serves as senior medical advisor to CNA’s Institute for Public Research in Health Research and Policy. He has been actively involved in health policy, health care operations and international health engagement issues since retiring in 2010 following a 38-year Navy career culminating in service as Deputy Surgeon General. He worked at the Center for Excellence in Disaster Management and Humanitarian Assistance from 2010-2012 participating in numerous international health, medical and disaster preparation events on behalf of U. S. Pacific Command.
He began his Navy career as a surface warfare officer in USS Charles R. Ware (DD 865), participated in riverine salvage operations in Vietnam and served as a saturation diving officer.
Dr. Cullison received his doctor of medicine degree in 1979 from Indiana University School of Medicine. Following a surgical internship and orthopaedic surgery residency at Naval Medical Center, San Diego he served in a variety of clinical assignments involving direct patient care, graduate medical education and operational deployments.
Rear Admiral Cullison’s Navy Medicine leadership career began in San Diego as Surgeon General Specialty Leader for Orthopaedic Surgery and Director of Surgical Services. He later served as Deputy Commander Naval Medical Center Portsmouth, Commanding Officer Naval Hospital Camp Lejeune, Fleet Surgeon, U.S. Pacific Fleet, Command Surgeon U.S. Pacific Command, Medical Officer of the Marine Corps, Commander Naval Medical Center Portsmouth (VA) and Commander Naval Medicine East.
His personal awards include: Navy Distinguished Service Medal, Legion of Merit with three gold stars, Bronze Star with Combat V, Defense Meritorious Service Medal with Oak Leaf Cluster, Meritorious Service Medal, Navy Commendation Medal and Combat Action Ribbon.
His professional activities have included Adjunct Assistant Professor of Orthopaedic Surgery and Adjunct Assistant Professor of Military Medicine at the Uniformed Services University of Health Sciences, Clinical Assistant Professor of Surgery at the University of California San Diego School of Medicine, Board of Councilors of the American Academy of Orthopaedic Surgeons, Board of Directors of the Society of Military Orthopaedic Surgeons and Fellow of the American Orthopaedic Association.

Service Line Transformation: Adapting Specialty Care for the Value Mandate
Ashley Ford is a senior consultant with the Advisory Board Company overseeing the cardiovascular, neurosciences and orthopedics research verticals within the Service Line Strategy Advisor and International Clinical Investment Insights divisions. An expert in technology adoption and service line planning, Ashley manages customized research focused on hospital adoption of technology and works closely with member hospitals to assess and plan for innovation and future service strategy. She has also authored studies on clinical technology adoption and management including the publications Navigating the New Era of Technology Assessment and 2012 Clinical Technology Compendium. Prior to joining the Advisory Board, Ashley worked in pharmaceutical consulting. She received her undergraduate degree from the University of Tennessee.
Allison Wishnick

From Wholesale to Retail: Thriving in a Consumer-Driven Market
As part of the service delivery team, Wishnick is responsible for overseeing the ongoing partnership between Sg2 and member health systems and hospitals. In this role, Wishnick works directly with administrative and clinical leadership to understand the most critical business issues facing health system and hospital strategy today, and to support them by proactively aligning Sg2 intelligence, analytics and consulting services to their specific growth and performance goals. Wishnick regularly presents to senior leadership teams at client organizations on national trends facing health systems, and the critical growth and performance drivers at their institutions and in their markets. She also facilitates strategic planning retreats for multidisciplinary teams, helping organizations build a value-driven strategy that reflects the changing health care landscape. Wishnick was most recently a speaker at Sg2’s Executive Summit, whereshe presented on how organizations can utilize analytics to understand the various channels of access in healthcare.
Prior to joining Sg2, Wishnick was the manager of planning and business analytics at Virtua, a four-hospital integrated health system in Southern New Jersey. In her role, she facilitated business plan and strategy development with leaders at the enterprise, service line and operating-site levels. Wishnick also worked as a senior consultant with Kurt Salmon, a health care strategy consulting firm.
