The American College of Oncology Administrators (ACOA) is pleased to announce its new leadership for 2014; Kim Mazzei of Virtua Health as its 2014 President and Karen Giamicchio of Northwestern Medical Group its 2014 President – Elect.
As the new leadership team takes the helm of the ACOA, they along with the entire ACOA board of directors wish to express its thanks and sincere appreciation to Bonnie Miller, for her years of dedication to the college. Bonnie has served the college as its Education Committee Chair, President-Elect and President. Under her leadership, the ACOA developed a series of oncology specific educational conferences that addressed long standing needs of the ACOA membership. As President-Elect and President, Bonnie continued to pursue a series of initiatives both in the quality and educational arenas. Throughout her term as ACOA President, Bonnie also focused on obtaining a permanent, voting seat for the ACOA on the AAMA Board of Directors. That goal has been obtained with Kim Mazzei being appointed to the AAMA board to represent the interests of the college.
The global goals of the ACOA are to focus on oncology education, leadership, and quality; with emphasis on attracting key speakers that will present at the 2015 AAMA Summit in Clearwater, Florida.
In developing the 2014 action plan the ACOA plans to focus on the following that will intrinsically grow its membership:
- Contribute to annual summit conference program and participation
- Contribute to ACOA and AAMA educational offerings
- Keep members up-to-date with significant developments in ACOA administrators
- Monitor and participate the ACOA LinkedIn group
- Foster interactions on the ACOA online community (AAMA website)
- Maintain and develop the ACOA file library
- Maintain and develop relationships with associations in related domains
- Maintain and develop relationships with vendors specific to ACOA
Both Kim and Karen encourage the ACOA membership to reach out to them via email with their suggestions and ideas that will strength the college in 2014. Kim can be reached at [email protected] and Karen can be reached at [email protected].
