Dear AAMA Members,
It is my great pleasure and privilege to serve as chair of the AAMA. Thank you for this honor!
First, I am grateful for the volunteer leaders who have put their hearts into our organization over the past few years. Most notably, on behalf of all of us, I want to thank Linda Larin for all that she has done during her term as Chair. Anyone who has had any contact with AAMA lately knows how transformative her leadership has been. We are very much in Linda’s debt for the infrastructure, programs and activities she has instituted; initiatives which will elevate AAMA in capacity and stature, and which—provided that we all continue to contribute our talents and energies—give us a solid platform for future growth and success.
Our strategic plan has five objectives designed to move us forward in our work to advance excellence in healthcare leadership through individual relationships, multi-disciplinary interaction, practical business tools and active engagement.
- Build member and education value through the annual conference, College content available to members, online learning and credentials
- Retain and grow membership
- Increase meeting attendance
- Build AAMA financial strength
- Modify AAMA governance to better align with goals
Our 2014 call to action can be summarized into four major sections (in alphabetical order):
- Credentials
- Update/Revise the CAAMA test
- Education
- Create new educational offerings (e.g. CAAMA test prep course, webinars)
- Define AAMA’s long-term educational strategy
- Plan the 2015 AAMA Conference
- Membership
- College level professional development and recruitment
- Increase online resources and discussions
- Publications
- Increase the relevance and impact of AAMA’s Journal
The 2014 AAMA Annual Conference
The 2014 AAMA Conference: The National Summit of Medical Administrators took place February 25-28, 2014 at the Flaming Hotel in Las Vegas, NV. The conference provided a unique opportunity to be inspired by progressive leaders from around the country while learning more about the top issues and challenges facing us all today. In my view, this was a top-notch event and it met our goal of ensuring you receive maximum value from each educational offering. AAMA is grateful to our conference sponsors, speakers and all the volunteers that made the event possible.
Save-the-Date
The 2015 AAMA Conference will be on January 19-21, 2015 at the Hilton Clearwater Beach in Clearwater, FL. Leading the charge for the 2015 conference planning committee is Jennifer Smith and Karen Giammicchio. The Program Planning committee will review your feedback from the evaluations and comments you sent us to build another exciting, engaging, and informative conference. Thank you to all of those whose evaluations, criticisms, and suggestions will make next year’s conference even better than this year’s!
