Specialty Groups — Oncology

Two new educational products are available from the Commission on Cancer, and a complimentary copy of each will be sent to CoC-Approved Cancer Programs. 

·         AJCC Patient Brochure, “Cancer Staging-What You Need to Know,” is an informative brochure designed to educate patients, families, friends, and caregivers on cancer staging and the TNM system. 

·         “Cancer Staging Poster Series” is a seven-poster set based on the AJCC Cancer Staging Manual.  It includes the TNM classification, stage grouping, and anatomic drawings for the most common cancer sites.  These posters are useful teaching and reference aids that can be displayed in physician offices, dictation areas, pathology departments, cancer registries, and at tumor board and cancer conferences.

The ACoS-CoC Report was prepared by ACOA/ACoS-CoC liaison, Jeannie O’Leary.  Her role as liaison is to enhance our relationship and collaboration by providing a forum for the exchange of ideas, initiatives, critical issues, and actions that impact cancer care, data collection, and research.  We have the opportunity to bring matters of importance for ACOA to the CoC, as well as communicate CoC activities to the ACOA.  If you have input on particular issues regarding credentialing and ACoS standards, please contact Jeannie O’Leary.
