Bon Secours Richmond Health System (BSR) has retained Witt/Kieffer to recruit an experienced and tenacious Vice President of Cardiology Services. Located in historic Richmond, Virginia, this regional system is part of the national system, Bon Secours Health System, Inc. BSR operates three hospitals and will open its fourth hospital, St. Francis Medical Center, in the fall of 2005. In addition, BSR operates two senior living facilities, two medical parks, dozens of outpatient services locations, a school of nursing, and a medical imaging school. All facilities combined encompasses more than 5,000 employees, has budgeted gross revenues of $1.85 billion, and budgeted net revenues of $596 million. BSR has current operating margins greater than 15 percent.

The Vice President of Cardiology Services will oversee all day-to day cardiology activities in three (soon to be four) hospitals, build alliances with area surgeons to increase BSR’s market share, and set the strategic goals for cardiology services. The candidate will also provide tactical direction of cardiology services now, and into the future, and will be relentless in pulling together the key constituents (cardiologist, cardiac surgeons, BSR hospital executives, clinical and service leaders, BSR CEO) to build a unified, systematic and highly successful cardiology service line for Bon Secours Richmond.

The successful candidate will have significant experience in leading cardiology services in a complex multi-hospital/multi-entity environment with a proven track record of growing open heart and other related surgical volumes and market share, and related services, profitably. This position requires an individual with strong oral and written communication skills. We are looking for someone well grounded in marketing, financial forecasting and business plan development. A master’s degree in nursing, business, and/or health administration is required. A clinical background is preferred.
