The Rokos Group has been retained by Hawaii Pacific Health to conduct a national search for an Executive Director for Hawaii Pacific Health’s Heart Center of the Pacific. Hawaii Pacific Health is a non-profit healthcare organization formed with the merger of three longtime Hawaii health systems: Wilcox Health, Kapi`olani Health, and Straub Clinic & Hospital. The vision for the Heart Center is to become the leading cardiac healthcare provider in Hawaii.  The Heart Center will offer coordinated, comprehensive, and high-quality care to patients throughout the state.

The Executive Director, Hawaii Pacific Health Heart Center will report directly to the Executive Vice President, Hawaii Pacific Health who is also the Chief Executive Officer of Straub Clinic & Hospital. 

The ideal candidate will possess the following qualifications:

  • Effective communication and interpersonal skills and a passion for building relationships and managing group dynamics;
  • Proven physician relation skills, which include the acumen to balance divergent goals and opinions;

  • A Bachelors degree in healthcare or business related field is required;

  • Master’s preparation is preferred; however, a combination of education, training and experience will be strongly considered;

  • At least five (5) years of experience in program development and/or healthcare enterprise management;

  • Experience in development/ management of a comprehensive multi-institutional Heart Center is preferred.

Responsibilities: The Division Director, Cardiovascular Services will provide administrative direction, management and coordination for the ongoing development of the hospital’s cardiovascular programs and services, and will serve as a member of the hospital’s senior management team. Areas reporting directly to the Division Director include:Cardiac Catheterization Lab, Cardiac Surgery, Cardiac Recovery Unit, Non-Invasive Diagnostic Cardiovascular Services, and Cardiovascular Health & Rehabilitation Center. Matrix relationships are with the Emergency Department, Admitting, Registration, Pharmacy, Radiology and Cardiovascular nurses. The Division Director will report to the Executive Director.

Qualifications: We are seeking an individual with in-depth knowledge of the  cardiovascular field, with clinical experience(RN or BSN) Strong management skills with at least 10 years of progressive management experience is required. A masters degree is highly preferable. (MSN or MBA) Strong interpersonal skills, and excellent communication skills with all organizational levels will be key. The ideal candidate must be diplomatic/ poised in dealing with stressful demands, and demonstrate good judgement and effective decisionmaking. Pivotal skills for success will include physician relations, individual and team leadership, strong results-orientation and ability to adapt in a matrix organization.

UPMC Shadyside, a 486-bed tertiary care hospital is seeking an Administrative Director for our Cardiac Cath Lab.  The incumbent will be a registered nurse or diagnostic tech who assumes the administrative responsibility for all activities within Cardiology Services including Cardiac Cath Lab/EP and Non-Invasive Cardiology Services.

The Administrative Director is accountable for the following: planning, organizing, implementing, evaluating quality patient care services, budgeting, staffing, nursing care hours, patient acuity system, initiation of data collection, analysis to develop effective systems, and monitoring of efficiency and productivity.

Requirements: BSN or BS in any health/business related degree required. Master’s degree preferred.  Minimum of 5-7 years experience as an Administrator and a minimum of 3 years experience in a surgical administrative position with an emphasis on fiscal understanding and the surgical environment.  Excellent communication skills and organizational techniques required.  Must be familiar with the Nurse Practice Act, Joint Commission Requirements, and Patients’ Bill of Right. Extensive experience in the care of the cardiac cath lab patient required.
