The Section of Cardiology of the College of Medicine at the University of Illinois at Chicago seeks an Administrator of Cardiovascular Services. In this newly-created position, the Administrator will be responsible for developing and leading the strategic business development initiatives of the Section to expand cardiology inpatient and outpatient programs and develop new or expanded sites of operation.
The Section of Cardiology is one of the largest translational cardiology research and clinical programs in Illinois. With $12 million in funding, the Section’s 22 cardiovascular faculty members provide comprehensive cardiology medical care to patients and cutting-edge research. UIC is the country’s largest medical school and a top 50 major research university.
Reporting to the Chief of the Section of Cardiology as well as the Chief Operating Officer of the University of Illinois Medical Center, the Administrator will be responsible for conducting market research and strategic scanning activities of the greater Chicago area identifying business expansion opportunities. The Administrator will develop strategic business proposals identifying ROI, project scope, timelines and expectations.
Candidates must have at least eight years experience in strategic business development including experience with cardiology programs/centers of excellence and a significant track record of progressively responsible positions in a complex health related organization, such as a multi-hospital system, academic organization or major consulting firm. Candidates must have the ability to gather data and establish direction in the context of a complex market and the ability to provide effective project management, facilitation and business analysis. A Master’s Degree is required.

Holy Cross Hospital (HCH), a 571-licensed bed facility located in Fort Lauderdale, Florida, is seeking an Executive Director, Heart and Vascular Services (ED, HVS). HCH is part of Catholic Health East (CHE), one of the largest and most respected religious health systems in the nation. As one of CHE’s flagship hospitals, HCH is a leading, Magnet accredited, acute-care specialty referral hospital in South Florida.
Reporting to the SVP and Chief Human Resources Officer, the ED, HVS will manage a critical service line to the hospital. The cardiovascular program, which consists of 4 catheterization labs, 2 EPS labs, 40 staff, and an operating budget of $15.5 million, represents the greatest revenue and expenses to the organization. HCH is committed to investing in the heart and vascular service line to become the premier unit in the county and achieve a five star HealthGrades’ ranking for the cardiac unit.
As a newly created, highly visible executive level position, the ED, HVS will manage the clinical and administrative operations and provide the strategic vision for the outpatient services of the heart and vascular service line, which includes rehabilitation and discharge services.
The successful candidate will have demonstrated business, financial and clinical acumen in leading and developing a prestigious heart and vascular program for a hospital with a minimum of 300 beds. Additional criteria include outstanding leadership qualities, strategic talent, superior communication skills, and ability to establish strong interpersonal relationships. An MHA or MBA is preferred; an undergraduate degree with equivalent clinical/technical experience is required.

UMDNJ – New Jersey Medical School is currently seeking a Director of Administration to direct all administrative and operational aspects of the Department of Neurology and Neurosciences. You will be responsible for all fiscal functions of the Department inclusive of preparing/overseeing budgets, federal and foundation grants, statistics/financial reports, monitoring expenditures/revenues, and developing/overseeing measures and standards of cost control. In addition, you will be responsible for identifying/resolving administrative/operational problem areas, developing/maintaining key working relationships and for all administrative aspects of patient care provided at University Hospital as well as the Department’s Academic Program.
Qualified candidate will have a Master’s degree in Hospital Administration, Business Administration or a related field plus five years of experience in coordinating administrative and fiscal activities, expediting programs, assessing personnel and formulating policies in a health care environment. At least three years must be within a managerial capacity. Outstanding human relations and leadership skills, and the ability to function in a team environment required. Demonstrated knowledge is necessary of how to accomplish superior performance in a unionized environment. A strong background in health care finance is desirable. Additional related experience may be substituted for the degree on a year- for-year basis.
