2013 AAMA Annual Conference

The AAMA has begun planning for one, inclusive annual conference in early 2014. This new event will encompass both the Annual Conference and the 3-in-1 Conference; thereby replacing the AAMA Annual Conference, scheduled for November 19-22, 2013 in Las Vegas.

This newly revamped event will feature educational tracks based on the service line areas of our seven colleges, including sessions that address needs of both military and non-military personnel. Additional networking opportunities along these service lines as well as multi-disciplinary connection points will be provided in order to ensure that our members have access to specialty-specific and profession-wide best practices. To ensure that the educational programming of this conference has the highest impact, the Academy Board in conjunction with our management team is conducting focus groups and a needs assessment to listen to our members and past attendees. One example of how we will resolve issues facing our educational units is by exploring ways to expand the conference to include an online component to expand our reach to graduate students, Ph.D. candidates and fellows. Further, we are designing new sessions that will provide online course visibility and access to the larger healthcare leadership community within the Academy and expand networking with experienced peers.

The AAMA Board of Directors truly sees this as an opportunity to effect positive and necessary change that will benefit the AAMA membership for years to come. Furthermore, we have heard the concerns of our members regarding the impact of restricted budgets within the private sector as well as the Sequester on federal travel expenses and overall budgets, and we want to be responsive to these needs, building the right event for the future of AAMA.

More information regarding our 2014 event will be communicated soon.
