American College of Surgeons Commission on Cancer (ACOS-CoC) Liaison
Report
Level II data release is
a voluntary sharing of cancer programs’ Facility Information Profile System
(FIPS) site and stage distribution table for 2005 cases to the American
Cancer Society’s (ACS) Web site. This Web site provides cancer patients and
their caregivers access to locations and availability of quality cancer
care. The 20005 data table became available for review and release by cancer
programs in March 2007. The deadline for release has passed (July 1) but
programs can still release their data and the CoC encourages cancer
committees to approve this move. Cancer program staff can access to CoC
Datalinks to review and release this data and if they have questions they
can contact staff at
FIPS@facs.org.
The ACoS-CoC Report was prepared by ACOA/ACoS-CoC liaison, Jeannie O’Leary.
Her role as liaison is to enhance our relationship and collaboration by
providing a forum for the exchange of ideas, initiatives, critical issues,
and actions that impact cancer care, data collection, and research. We have
the opportunity to bring matters of importance for ACOA to the CoC, as well
as communicate CoC activities to the ACOA. If you have input on particular
issues regarding credentialing and ACoS standards, please contact
Jeannie O’Leary.
